The "Pirtek Protek Diesel Arrow" is an Unlimited Diesel Truck (UDT) designed for one reason "high speeds" on salt lake at South Australia. The truck is a custom built machine, which is powered by a Detroit series 60 producing 1200 horsepower.
March 2008 will see the "Pirtek Protek Diesel Arrow" (UDT) 414 team return to lake Gairdner at South Australia attempting to raise the Australian UDT land speed record. 2008 will also see the UD/T fuelled with 100% premium bio diesel, which is an all-natural fuel that contains no fossil elements.
The Newcastle based team will set out late February 08 on the 27 hr 1250mile trek to the salt flats. Lake Gairdner is located in a very remote part of South Australia, approximately 340 miles from Adelaide.
With the disappointment of the 2007 meeting cancellation behind them the UDT team are quietly confident of achieving some respectable Speeds in 2008.
